We (2 A, 3 C) go to Disney every year and usually stay at POR, but we were wondering if we should try something different and stay at CB. How do they compare? Pros of POR for us include the room setup (two queens plus murphy) & the lush, tranquil groun

    Hi, Cascia!

There are so many resorts to choose from at Walt Disney World!  Each have something special to offer with unique themes and activities.

Caribbean Beach is about the same size at Port Orleans Riverside with about 2,000 rooms, multiple pools, and several bus stops.  It has more of a tropical feel than the lush woodsy-feel of Riverside.  I feel the set-up at Caribbean Beach is a bit more dated with the lobby and food court each being on different ends of the resort.

Your biggest problem with Caribbean Beach will be the lack of the extra bed.  With a family of 5, your only Moderate Resort choices will be Riverside or the cabins at Fort Wilderness.  I think your best option is to stick with Riverside with the ability to sleep 5 in one room.

Another option would be to go to a Value Resort where you could book a Family Suite at a value price.  Your options here are All-Star Music or Art of Animation.  These Value Family Suites have a bedroom with a queen bed, plus extra pull-out beds in the living room with sleeping for a total of 6 guests.  These suites also have a kitchenette and 2 full bathrooms.  Just something to think about!

If you need any more help deciding, just let me know!  Good luck.

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
