What gluten free menu options are also currently yeast free at Columbia Harbor House, Be Our Guest, Flame Tree BBQ, and ABC Commissary? I need to know if I might be able to eat in the parks. The special dining team has not been able to assist me.

    Hello Brittany!

Thank you for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I’m thrilled to hEAR that you will be visiting Walt Disney World Resort very soon. You will be happy to hEAR that dining at Walt Disney World Resort is very simple, even with special dietary requests.

Although no one in my immediate family has a gluten and yeast allergy, my son is dairy free and another close friend is gluten free! There is even a Disney Parks Moms Panelist, whom I visited the parks with in December, and she’s vegan! I have seen first hand how Walt Disney World Resort can accommodate the most common food allergies so that everyone is able to enjoy a delicious meal!

At Quick-Service locations such as; Columbia Harbour House, Flame Tree Barbecue, and ABC Commissary, just ask a Cast Member at the entrance for an allergy menu. If you are unable to find a suitable option on the menu, or have further questions, you may consult with a Chef or Special Diets-Trained Cast Member! Either will be eager to help you find something delicious for you to enjoy. When dining at a restaurant that recommends dining reservations such as, Be Our Guest Restaurant, you are able to make a note of any dietary requests when making that reservation. Just like the Quick-Service Restaurants, a separate menu and the opportunity to speak to a Cast Member or Chef will occur once again.

I still highly recommend reaching out to the Special Dietary Team at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com to ask more about the accommodations that can be made at the restaurants you want to enjoy. A plant-based Cast Member informed me that it's best to reach out at a minimum of 14 days prior to your arrival. The Special Diets Team is a great resource, they just need a little time to work their Magic, just as Fairy Godmother does. Chefs at most restaurants can substitute different ingredients and offer other food options so that dining for those with dietary requirements can still enjoy a delectable affair. The Chefs may even be able to cater to specific needs by offering an off-menu option. Just be sure to make the allergies  known, once you’ve arrived at the restaurant.

    Bon Appétit!

Meet the Panelist: Shantel, Alabama

Hi ya Pals! I'm Shantel, an Army wife and mom of two. I grew up going to the parks, and now we're sharing that tradition with our kids. When I am not visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, I'm at home researching and planning for our next trip. One of my favorite things to do is search for new snacks to try, especially if they are Mickey shaped. I'm definitely living the dream my heart wished for! I cannot wait to answer your questions and help make your vacation even more magical!
