Hi, are the glasses that are handed out at Avatar Flight of Passage necessary to enjoy the ride? My son is on the autism spectrum and doesn't tolerate anything touching his face. Thanks!

    Hi Crystal ~

That is an excellent question and I'm glad you asked. I have a son with several types of special needs so I completely understand your challenges.

I'll admit I had some concerns regarding my son being able to experience Avatar Flight of Passage and how he would react. How would he do with the restraints of the ride vehicle? How close are the "seats" in case my son needed me during the ride? Would he enjoy the ride without the glasses?

We asked as we were boarding Avatar Flight of Passage, but my son wanted no part of the glasses. At one point during the ride, I raised up my glasses because I wondered what my son was seeing without them. It was a little blurry but I could tell what was going on. While every child is different, it probably helped my son that he didn't get the full visual effect of dipping down and soaring around.

Even without wearing the glasses, I am excited to tell you that my son absolutely LOVED Avatar Flight of Passage. I spent more time watching the sheer joy on his face and his screams in delight than I did the actual screen. I would not have missed that for the world.

FastPass+ service is available for Avatar Flight of Passage and I highly recommend that as one of your selections.
