Family on Alaskan Cruise

Does Glacier View Sea Kayaking (JU14) that runs from 9:30-1:30 drop us off at Mount Roberts Tramway? Our ship leaves at 4:45pm at AJD and we want to take advantage of that time by eating at Tracy's Crab Shack.

    Ahoy, Alex!

Welcome aboard planDisney! After a fun-filled day exploring the Mendenhall Wetlands by kayak, I can't think of a better way to refuel than a stop at Tracy's King Crab Shack. That sounds like the perfect way to cap off an Alaskan adventure before heading back to the Disney Wonder. Let's paddle our way through your question!

When it comes to these amazing Port Adventures, it's always important to remember that they are operated by independent tour providers, and the exact drop-off location can vary. In Juneau, there are several cruise docks, and where you're dropped off may depend on which dock the Disney Wonder is assigned to on your sailing as well as the operational plans for that particular day.

Currently, the Disney Wonder is scheduled to use the AJ Dock for your sailing, which is approximately one mile from the Goldbelt Tram, often referred to as the Mount Roberts Tramway. Because your excursion guide is responsible for ensuring Guests return to the ship on time, I would expect the tour to conclude near the ship or at a location that facilitates a timely return to the port area.

The good news is that there are often local shuttles available in the port area that can transport Guests to the Juneau Visitor Center. That's especially convenient because Tracy's King Crab Shack is located right next door. If your goal is to squeeze in one more tasty adventure before all aboard time, that's probably the route I'd keep in my back pocket.

I hope this helps as you map out your Juneau adventure and maximize every minute ashore! Between glacier views, kayaking, and a stop at Tracy's, it sounds like you're building a port day that's worthy of its own Wilderness Explorer badge.

Sea ya real soon as the days grow longer and the countdowns grow shorter,
    Dustin
