How do I give my teen purchasing permission on the app?

Hey there, hi there, ho there, Rena!

You’re as welcome as can be to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Even though we may wish our children would never grow up, I love how you are setting up ways to have your not-so-little Mouseketeer become independent.

Guests of the Disneyland Resort who are 13 years old and older may create a My Disneyland account. For Guests ages 13 through 17, most account features are available. However, some features are subject to age restrictions. One such restricted feature is storing a credit card to your profile, which is offered only to Guests at least 18 years of age. Though minors are not permitted to link credit cards to their My Disneyland accounts, there are a couple of alternatives you might consider.

Your teen may make use of Disney Gift Cards for purchases in the parks, including to purchase theme park tickets at the Main Entrance Ticket Booths. Though Disney Gift Cards may not be added to the Disneyland app, Guests may use them at virtually all dining and merchandise locations throughout the Disneyland Resort. To purchase Disney MaxPass with a Disney Gift Card, Guests may visit a Guest Relations location. For mobile convenience, you may even obtain a Disney Gift Card eGift. To use these handy eGifts for purchase simply show the code on your mobile device at the point of sale. Or, for an out-of-this-world option, the Batuuan Spira may be available at select locations in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The Spira is usable anywhere Disney Gift Cards are accepted and can be used in a way similar to eGifts.

Another option is to enlist the support of a Guest age 18 or older with a My Disneyland account. Theme park tickets may be linked with as many accounts as you would like. For example, another guest with a credit card linked to their account may use their account to link another Guest’s ticket to then purchase Disney MaxPass for that ticket. Also, Mobile Food and Beverage Ordering may be done for more than one guest at a time in a single order. These mobile purchases may even be performed remotely. For example, if you happen to be separated from your teen, you may use your account to make a MaxPass purchase or Mobile Food and Beverage Order on their behalf, whether you are on opposite ends of the theme parks or opposite ends of the world. You need only coordinate the timing of purchases and finalization of orders at pick-up times for when they arrive at the expected locations.

I hope you and your teen have a magical time at the Disneyland Resort, Rena! Please come visit us again if you have any more questions.
