Hi Donna!
Thanks so much for bringing your question to us here at
planDisney! What a wonderful gift - I can't think of anything more magical than opening up a trip to the
Happiest Place on Earth!
There are a few ways that you can wrap up this magic! One option is the gift of a
Disney Gift Card which would allow your recipient to purchase the ticket themselves. Gift cards can also be used toward a stay at a
Disneyland Resort Hotel,
Magic Key purchases,
dining and more. This option may provide the most flexibility for both you and your lucky gift recipient!
If you are looking to gift a
single-day ticket, you will be prompted to choose a date at the time of purchase. The
price of admission can vary by time of year and ticket pricing is divided into six tiers. When purchasing, you will be able to see the ticket calendar which will show the cost for tickets for the next 120 days. Once the ticket is purchased, you can cancel the date chosen and have your recipient choose a different date themselves. The Guest will be able to choose any date through the ticket's expiration that is of the same tier or lower. Although it may take away from the surprise a bit, it may make sense to have an idea of when they may like to travel to ensure that you are purchasing a ticket in a similar pricing tier to fully cover its cost.
If you would like to book a
multi-day ticket, you will similarly need to choose dates at the time of purchase, but these tickets do not have tiered pricing. Dates can be changed for these as well, but multi-day tickets must be used within 13 days after the first use or by the stated expiration.
In either case, you will receive an email with a confirmation number and link to the
eTicket itself. This can easily be forwarded to the recipient who can print it and scan at the park turnstiles or link the confirmation numbers in his or her account in the
Disneyland app where changes can be made. I always like to remind Guests that in addition to valid theme park admission, they will also need to make a
theme park reservation to either
Disneyland Park or
Disney California Adventure Park. Guests can peek at the
theme park reservation availability calendar to ensure that the dates they are planning to travel have reservations available. Reservations can be made directly on the
Disneyland Resort website.
I hope this helps you decide how to give the gift of magic, Donna!
