Can I give my friend my disabled magic bands?

Hey howdy hey, Ashley, and welcome to planDisney! I'm just thrilled that you've stopped by our neck of the woods with this rootin'-tootin' question about your MagicBand! It's always a bright and sunny day here at planDisney, and my Panelist pals and I are here and always happy to help fellow guests like you! Let's get to it!

Ashley, it's super generous that you want to gift your friend some MagicBands you've used in the past. I have saved all of my MagicBands from previous visits and have a fun little collection now! Though you're hoping to give your MagicBand to your friend, I have to tell you that a MagicBand is designed for just one owner, so it can't be transferred. Happily, there are solutions that your friend can try, if she would prefer not to purchase a new MagicBand+. Please share these tips with your friend:

    • Disney MagicMobile Service is a great way to streamline your vacation. In your My Disney Experience Mobile App, go to your tickets and select "Save to Wallet." This creates a ticket in your smart phone's wallet that allows you to use your phone to tap in at the turnstiles and for Lightning Lane entry.
    • Use your My Disney Experience Mobile App to unlock your Disney Resorts Collection hotel room door with your phone.
    • At Disney PhotoPass Service spots, tap your phone to receive all of the images in your gallery in the My Disney Experience Mobile App.
And, hey, if she wants to go for it and get some new Disney gear in the form of a MagicBand+, she won't be disappointed. She can shop online or grab one in person when she arrives. They're sold at hotels, theme parks, and Disney Springs. A MagicBand+ is so much fun because it allows you to have interactive experiences throughout the parks and it comes with a charger, so you don't have to worry about the battery (previous versions of MagicBands only lasted a couple of years).

Ashley, you seem like a friend that anyone would be lucky to have. Perhaps instead of your MagicBands, you can lend your friend some Minnie Mouse ear headbands! And if they need anything at all, please let them know that they have a friend in me, too! Please stop back by planDisney anytime!

    To infinity, and beyond!
