I would like to give my family of 17 (6 adults & 9 grandchildren a Disney vacation for Christmas. It would be the first vacation I have ever been able to do with my family.

    Hi there, Lori!

A warm welcome to planDisney and thank you for bringing us your Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question. I'm so excited to hear that you'd like to treat your family to an unforgettable trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth! As a fellow Michigander, I think that planning a visit in February will provide your family with the perfect winter getaway. Lori, I'm here to help you prepare to book an enchanting trip for your loved ones!

The only thing more magical than visiting the Walt Disney World Resort is experiencing it with your loved ones, so I'm thrilled to be able to help you plan for your first-ever family vacation. Some of my fondest Walt Disney World Resort vacation memories were made on trips with large, multigenerational groups! Lori, booking for 2024 room-only Disney Resort hotel reservations and vacation packages become available today, May 31, 2023! The first thing you should consider is how you'd like to split up into Resort hotel rooms. The largest Disney Deluxe Villas can sleep up to 12 Guests, so you may choose to split up into smaller, standard-type rooms by family (most of these sleep between four and six Guests). Another advantage of reserving Deluxe Villa accommodations is that these rooms offer dedicated kitchen and dining spaces where the family could enjoy meals together, as dining reservations for larger groups can be more difficult to secure!

The next thing you should consider is theme park tickets. Will everyone in your party be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks together on the same days? If so, you could opt to purchase your trip as a vacation package! If you'd rather allow family members flexibility on who visits the theme parks and how often, you may prefer purchasing theme park tickets separately from your Resort hotel reservation.

Once your vacation has been booked, be sure to link your profiles via your Family & Friends Lists in My Disney Experience on the Walt Disney World Resort website. This will allow you to include one another in plans like dining reservations, Enchanted Extras Collection experiences, Disney Genie+ service purchases, and Lightning Lane entry selections! Lori, after you've booked your trip, please feel free to revisit us here at planDisney. You may also reach out to me directly if you'd prefer. I'd love to help you make magical memories with your family!

    Enchantment awaits,
