Hi! My girlfriend has never visited Disneyland, and I wanted to explore the idea of possibly taking her in 2021. She especially loves Halloween, but since the Oogie Boogie bash is a separate ticket, I was curious if attending was worth the extra money?

Boo to you, Zain, and a spook-tacular welcome to planDisney!

First off, I love that you’re researching how to plan the perfect getaway for your girlfriend! Rest assured that you simply can’t go wrong with a visit to the Happiest Place on Earth! Plus, since she loves Halloween, October is the perfect month to schedule your adventure.

My favorite part of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party! So, to answer your question, yes, I believe Oogie Boogie Bash is worth the extra money for a separate event ticket! In fact, I enjoyed it so much last year, that I attended twice! The Immersive Treat Trails, Villains Grove, and “Mickey’s Trick & Treat” were definitely on my highlight reel. The great thing about last year’s Oogie Boogie Bash event ticket was that it allowed Guests to enter Disney California Adventure Park three or four hours before the scheduled start time (depending on the day of the week) to get a head-start on the festive fun! Then, once the park closed at 6:00 PM for the event, Guests were treated to five hours of mischievous mayhem! That's up to nine hours inside the park!

If you choose to purchase tickets for this event next year, and if the schedule remains the same, then I would recommend spending your morning at a Character Dining experience, such as breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen, followed by some pool time. Then, you’ll be ready for a night to remember!

If you choose not to nab tickets for the Bash, there is still plenty of Halloween Time fun to be had in both theme parks. In Disneyland Park, you won’t want to miss the classic Halloween experiences at Haunted Mansion Holiday, the Main Street Pumpkin Festival, and the Halloween Screams fireworks spook-tacular! Also, inside Disney California Adventure Park, look out for awesome attraction overlays in Cars Land, and on Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark! Just be sure to visit on a night without a planned Oogie Boogie Bash event (last year they were held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays).

Last but not least, with your girlfriend’s Halloween love, you may also want to check out Disney’s Happiest Haunts Tour, which includes a 2.5-hour guided tour, full of ghost stories, tricks, and treats!

I sure hope the current status of the Disneyland Resort changes soon, so we can all start planning ghoulish getaways with our loved ones! Wishing you both a frightfully fun visit to the Spookiest Place on Earth in 2021!
