My girlfriend is planning on bringing her GHD hair straighteners from the uk for our trip next year, will they be safe to use in the hotel as we know the electric is alittle bit different!

    Hi Ben,

You will not need to check with anyone, you just need 2 things:

    1) Make sure that your hair appliance is dual voltage.

    2) If your heating appliance is dual voltage you will need a Voltage Converter which is meant to be used with heating appliances like hair dryers, curling irons or irons. They reduce the voltage from 220 to 110. They are only meant to be used for short periods of time and should be equipped with an internal circuit breaker to prevent overheating.  If you notice the light on the appliance is flickering, make sure to turn it off or you may blow the fuse (shouldn't happen if the above items are in check but it happened to me once when I lived in the UK and travelled abroad....maybe just a one off instance for me?).  I hope your girlfriend and you have a most magical vacation next year!

    Best wishes,
