I have a girl whose 16 and LOVES princesses. She has Down Syndrome and wondered if this activity is only for little girls. She would love to be dressed up as a princess for a day!

    Hi Melisa,

    Welcome to planDisney!

It definitely sounds like you have a princess in the house! You will be happy to know that she can live as royalty while visiting the Walt Disney World® Resort! Although Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom Park is for guests ages three to 12-years old, consider a Magical Makeover at the Grand Floridian Spa located at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Book your appointment in advance and consider when you might especially need that makeover. When our girls were younger, we would always have a princess day which included a meal with the princesses. Cinderella's Royal Table and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall are our favorite dining locations with princess experiences. I would have her do the makeover before the dining experience.

And then, after the dining experience, you could also have more one-on-one time with a princess. Review the locations of Disney Princesses at Walt Disney World Resort. Then take some time to visit with princesses after your dining experience. We love to Meet Princess Tiana and a Visiting Princess at Princess Fairytale Hall. The photos that we have from those experiences are priceless. This year we took a cruise on the Disney Wish and the girls had a chance to meet Tiana again. It brought back so many memories from the first time they met her. I can still feel their 8-year old excitement.

Now, on to the outfit! There have to be outfits! Do take a look at the Walt Disney World Property Rules, particularly the guidance around costumes not being worn by guests ages 14-years and older. You can, however, hone your Disney Bounding skills. Find outfits that share some of the same color and style of her favorite Disney princesses, remembering that the shoes should be comfortable considering all of the walking you will do in the theme parks.

Melisa, as you continue to plan, remember the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom. Check the parade times during the dates of your visit and be sure to find a good spot for your princess. Be prepared to take care of the princess while on your visit. Our girls got so much attention when they were fully immersed in the princess experience, we felt like their royal assistants!

Sending you a little extra pixie dust as you make those final plans!

    Magic and memories,
