Hi, I was gifted a couple of tickets from a friend and it only shows a QR code at the back and a Disney character on the front. It seems to be fine when I linked it on my account. Is this legit? Do I need the actual barcode for when we go?

    Welcome to planDisney, Sophia!

How wonderful! I would like to be as kind of a friend as you have. Sharing the magic of the Disneyland Resort sounds like the best sort of friendship imaginable.

As long as a theme park ticket is wholly unused, it’s OK to transfer it to a friend. To find out if your tickets are valid still, you would need to book theme park reservations with them. You can do that starting from the Disneyland mobile app. Make sure you logged into the app using the same account to which you have linked your tickets. Then, tap the ‘+’ button at the bottom of the screen and select “Make a Park Reservation.” Use the “Make or Modify Park Reservations” button to open up the "My Theme Park Reservations" page where you can proceed to book the required park reservations for your upcoming visit!

If your tickets are one-day tickets, you may only book park reservations for an available day of the same or lower tier as your tickets. If you were given California resident promotional tickets, the three days may be booked from available dates through September 28, 2023. For the promotional tickets, note that reservations may only be made for dates the tickets are valid. For example, Monday through Thursday tickets may not be used on weekend days. If you have standard, non-promotional multi-day tickets, you may book all of the days of your ticket from the available reservations, keeping in mind that the tickets will expire at the end of the 13th day after the first day or use or sooner if the ticket expiration date happens to occur then.

Speaking of the regular ticket expiration date, if the tickets have expired or will have expired before you get a chance to use them, you may still be able to take them to a main entrance ticket booth at the Disneyland Resort to upgrade them to new tickets of equal or greater value. This works if the tickets aren’t complimentary or other ticket types that are restricted from being upgraded and only if the tickets are wholly unused. You can also call the Tickets phone line or use online chat to ask a Cast Member for more information about upgrading expired tickets.

I’m excited for you to enjoy a visit to The Happiest Place on Earth, Sophia. As you continue to get ready, feel free to drop by planDisney again if you have any more questions.

    See ya real soon!
