I'm glad you brought your question to us today; MagicBands are one of my favorite Disney accessories - I love the ease of tapping into the magic, opening my Disney Resort hotel room door, and even using them to charge purchases back to my Disney Resort hotel folio while I'm visiting the Walt Disney World Resort! And with the new
MagicBand+, the unexpected lights and vibrations allow me to feel even more connected to the magic all around me!
Debbie, if you purchased a MagicBand or MagicBand+ and it has not yet been linked to a guest's My Disney Experience account, you are more than welcome to gift it to someone to link to their account! The bands are not transferable, meaning they cannot be disconnected or transferred to another guest once they have been connected to an account. To
link a MagicBand+ to a guest account, you can power the band on and tap it to your device, or use the
My Disney Experience mobile app to "Link to the Account" and follow the prompts to connect. To link a MagicBand 2.0, navigate to the MagicBands and Cards section of your profile and select
link where you will be able to type in the ID number for the MagicBand.
Only MagicBand+ bands require charging, so if your previous band is not a MagicBand+, there is nothing you will need to do to prepare your band, but I recommend verifying that your previous MagicBand is connected to your account and marked
active in your My Disney Experience account using the
MagicBand section of My Profile. If it is a MagicBand+, you will want to
charge your band before your visit and also be sure your band is paired to your mobile device and updated through the My Disney Experience mobile app.
