I would like to get 2 $1,000 gift certificates for Walt Disney World for my son and daughter in in law. I know they want to plan a vacation there...are there any advertising booklets showing all the different resorts that I can put in their package?

    Hi Paula! Welcome to planDisney.

What a lovely and generous gift! Your son and daughter-in-law will be absolutely thrilled to receive the gift of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, and the memories will last long after their magical getaway.

At this time, printed brochures are not available; instead, Guests are encouraged to read the most up-to-date information on the Walt Disney World Resort website. I know you want to give them something to look through as they dream up their vacation, and I'm happy to share some ideas today.

A local travel agent might have some Walt Disney World Resort brochures, but they may be a few years old. It's worth checking if you know an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner or have a local AAA location.

Another idea would be to purchase a book for them to go along with the gift cards. The travel section of a bookstore will have several planning guidebooks. You could also pick up the gorgeous One Day at Disney book, which highlights stories from Cast Members around the Disney Parks. There's an accompanying show on Disney+ that's really wonderful and I bet they would enjoy watching as they count down to their visit!

If you have an idea about which Disney Resorts Collection hotels they're interested in calling "home" during their vacation, you could put together a gift basket with fun items representing the hotels. I did this a few years ago for my Mouseketeers - we were staying at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and I included palm tree necklaces, a beach ball, a pineapple sipper cup, and some tropical treats. The Bucket List Family made an amazing YouTube series a few years ago where they stayed at 30 Walt Disney World Resort hotels over 30 days; each morning, they would open a suitcase filled with treasures representing their next resort hotel, and it was so much fun to follow along.

I also recommend providing your son and daughter-in-law with a list of helpful resources as they plan their Disney vacation. The Disney Resorts Collection webpage is a great place to start. Here at planDisney, we have Pocket Guides to several hotels (and more are coming!), and our Panel Extras are filled with tips, including our ideas for selecting your resort hotel. We're also sharing photos and videos from our visits to the Disney Parks on Instagram @planDisneyPanel, and they're invited to follow along with us! Finally, the Disney Parks Blog is the official source for news and announcements, and they share fun features and planning tips every day. Maybe you could create a "Magical Cheat Sheet" with these links and include it with the gift cards?

Paula, thank you for stopping by with your question. It makes my heart warm to know you're giving the gift of magic and memories to your loved ones, and I know they will treasure this generous gift. Please let them know that the planDisney panelists are SO excited for them, and we are here to help with all their planning questions!

Wishing all of you much magic,
    Robyn
