We are getting into WDW on 2/5 afternoon, and we were thinking about playing dinner that night by ear. We would like a sit-down dinner. Are we nuts? Or should we make an ADR? We're not sure if we'll be in the MK or at the hotel, or what! :) Thanks so much!

    Hi Meghan,

Early February, before President's Week, is generally a less crowded time to visit Walt Disney World, and consequently, the odds that you could secure a table without an advanced dining reservation are certainly better than during peak periods.  That being said, Disney's most popular restaurants tend to be crowded and near full capacity throughout the year.  If you are hoping to have dinner at a popular character meal, for example, I would strongly recommend making reservations.

My suggestion is that you make your "best guess" of where you plan to be in the evening on February 5th and make a reservation to ensure you have a table somewhere.  If you are in the parks, and see that your plans change, you could always call the dining line via cell phone, cancel your existing reservation and book another one that better suits your agenda.  I've had a lot of luck securing a great table only hours before during off peak times by calling the dining line from the parks.

Wherever you dine on your "inaugural" night, bon appetit!
