We're getting to the resort before 3 pm, so I guess we won't be able to check into our room? Is there someplace we can leave our carry on bags so that we can swim or visit Disney Springs without lugging them around?

    Thanks for the question!

So this is part of my family's strategy on EVERY trip to Walt Disney World. We always have in our carry-on bags our swimsuits, along with some large zip lock bags. That way we can swim the second we get to our resort, whether our room is ready or not! The bags give us somewhere to put the wet suits if we finish swimming before the room is available.

Yes, you can leave your carry on bags at the Bell Desk of your Disney Resort. That way, upon arrival, you could go swimming, head to Disney Springs, or even go to a theme park, if that is part of your plan. That does not mean that your room won't be ready, but better to plan that it is not, just in case.

Of course if you flew in to the Orlando International Airport and are using Disney's Magical Express, your checked baggage will be delivered to your room later in the day. So you won't have to worry about those bags either.

ARRIVAL DAY TIP: If upon arrival you don't think that swimming or Disney Springs is in the cards for you, consider doing some resort hopping! On a recent trip where the weather was a bit nasty, we headed to the Monorail loop by the Magic Kingdom and enjoyed taking in the theming of Disney's Contemporary ResortDisney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Starting a trip with a Dole Whip is never a bad thing!

    Have a Magical Vacation!
