It is getting real now as we start our 30 day countdown. This will be both my kids first time and my son's 5th birthday. I plan to ask for buttons for them but am wondering should I get them each an autograph book and ears before we go or get it there?

Welcome back to planDisney Angela, and thank you for stopping by with your question! I’m thrilled to help you as you countdown to your trip to the Walt Disney World Resort. With your kids’ first visit on the horizon and your son’s 5th birthday right in the middle of the magic, you’re about to create memories that will last a lifetime.

For autograph books, getting them before the trip can be really special. You could present them as part of your countdown to Disney, or even as an early birthday gift for your son. Having the books ahead of time allows your kids to get excited about collecting signatures and imagining all the characters they’ll meet. On the other hand, buying them at Disney has its perks too, because the park offers so many themed options tied to favorite movies, characters, or rides. The pens that come with the books there are usually easy for little hands to use, which is a nice bonus.

As for Disney ears, letting your kids pick them at the park is part of the Disney magic. There’s such a wide variety of designs, including limited edition and park exclusive options that they wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else. Choosing their own ears can make that first day feel extra special, and it’s a fun way to let them participate in the experience. If you do want a sweet surprise moment, you could always have one pair ready for your son’s birthday or the first morning, then let them pick additional ones at the park.

And of course, don’t forget to ask for celebration buttons once you’re there. They’re free, and they make birthdays and first time visits feel really magical. You can even have the cast members sign or acknowledge your son’s birthday, it adds such a personal touch to the day.

Angela, I hope this guidance helps you feel excited and ready for your family’s very first Walt Disney World adventure. With your kids experiencing the magic for the first time and a special 5th birthday to celebrate, every moment is sure to be filled with joy, wonder, and unforgettable memories. Thank you so much for stopping by with your question, and here’s wishing you a truly magical trip full of laughter, celebration, and pixie-dusted moments from beginning to end!
