Getting ready to go on our first disney trip, 2 children 4&6 and 2 adults. Bringing the basics anything important we might forget?

    Hi Patty!

First trips are extra magical, especially with two little ones in tow!  Be sure to pick up some free "First Visit" pins at Guest Relations and wear them proudly throughout your stay!  I'm not sure what time of year you are travelling, but here are some of my "must pack" items for our family of four:

    • Sunscreen - lots (twice as much as you think you need!)
    • Hats and sunglasses for everyone
    • Super comfy shoes for everyone
    • Light jackets and/or sweaters for chilly restaurants (even in the summer)
    • Cameras (still and video)
    • Rain Ponchos for everyone - These are available inside the parks, but I have yet to figure out how to fold and reuse them, so I head to my local dollar store, and buy a bunch to "use and toss" ahead of time.  I can buy enough for all of us for less than the cost of one purchased in the parks.
    • If you are travelling in the summer, I recommend purchasing a clip on fan for your stroller(s).  I got mine online at Walmart, and they were a huge help at keeping my kids cool (and seated) in the parks during the day.
    • I also recommend buying a spray fan (it's basically a water bottle with a fan attached).  They are great to help keep everyone cool, and are even better at entertaining kids on line.  (These are also available in the parks, but generally cheaper elsewhere.)
    • Some way to identify your kids in the event they get separated from you.  I use everything from blank address labels with our cell phone numbers written on them, to custom "dog tags" I had printed with the same information.
    • A sheet, or electronic list of your advanced dining reservations printed on them (times, and reservation numbers).  I can't tell you how many people I've met who forget to bring this!

Hopefully I covered something you missed!  Have a magical trip!
