I am getting mixed information on whether I can take my Electric Scooter on a Water Taxi to and from any Disney location? My trip is coming up soon so this would be very helpful in planning for my trip.

Hi there, Evelyn! Greetings from all of us here at planDisney! We appreciate you taking the time to stop by and ask your wonderful Walt Disney World Resort vacation question!

It looks like you’re just a few short weeks from your magical vacation to Walt Disney World Resort! It’s time to start getting excited about all the adventures you will have and memories you will be making in the very near future!

Water Transportation at Walt Disney World Resort is a leisurely way to cruise from one location to another while taking in the gorgeous sights as you travel over the water! This form of transportation is available at select Disney Resort hotels and provides transportation to either the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney Springs. Generally, these routes will run at 15- or 30-minute intervals.

One of the reasons you may be getting mixed answers regarding your question is due to the different types of water taxis used across Walt Disney World Resort. Some of these watercrafts are able to accommodate an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) while others are not. In my experience, the water taxis that provide transportation from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are typically not wheelchair or ECV accessible. On these smaller water taxis, I have had to transfer out of my wheelchair and fold it up in order to use water transportation. That being said, there have been times in which larger water taxis have been used at these locations and these types of boats are accessible for both wheelchairs and ECVs.

From personal experience, the water taxis used to transport Guests to Epcot and Disney’s Springs are generally the larger ones that can accommodate an ECV or wheelchair. Typically, I do make use of the water transportation to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios during my own trips.

I would highly recommend checking out the “Services for Guests with Disabilities” webpage for a wealth of information regarding topics such as these! In particular, you may find the “Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities” webpage very helpful. One of my favorite features of this page is a list of attractions and their various levels of accessibility!

I hope this information will assist you in planning for your upcoming vacation to Walt Disney World Resort! Please let us know if we can answer any other questions for you prior to or even during your trip!
