Hiya Sandra,
Welcome to planDisney! I’m so sorry to hear that you have been getting conflicting answers. I know that must make it tough to prepare for your vacation. I will do my best to help you!
So, first off, I can see why you are getting conflicting answers. According to the
Walt Disney World Resort Property rules, folding chairs are not allowed in any of the theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, or ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. A chair cane is, in some ways, a folding chair, which would make it prohibited. During my additional digging, I stumbled upon a list of guidelines for
Guests with disabilities and the types of accommodations they allow. One of these accommodations is the use of a cane chair for extended walking, standing, or waiting in queues. Now, the page mentions that some accommodations are only available at select attractions, which leads me to believe that cane chairs may not be usable everywhere. Ultimately, Cast Members have final discretion on whether items are allowed into the theme parks or not, so I don’t want to promise that your cane chair will be good to go if it isn’t. My recommendation is to reach out to a Cast Member in
Disability Services via email to get their perspective. They can help you prepare accordingly and make sure you have everything you need for your trip.
I hope this was helpful, Sandra. Before I let you go, I’m also attaching a link to the
Accessibility Planning Guide and Recommendations. Walt Disney World Resort strives to ensure everyone has a magical vacation, which is why this guide offers a lot of helpful resources. Please come back and see us if you need anything else before your trip next year. We are happy to help you navigate any conflicting information and get you on the right track.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
