I am getting married on The Wish. Am I allowed to pack my wedding favors and decor in totes and check them with the porters? Am I allowed to bring a collapsible wagon on board to carry my dresses and other items?

Ahoy there Melanie, and welcome to planDisney!

There’s something intrinsically special about tying the knot on a ship, and before my husband and I got married at Walt Disney World Resort this year I had done quite a bit of research into having our Disney Wedding on board. I had the chance to witness several beautiful weddings taking place on my most recent voyage on the Disney Wish and see just how perfect the Grand Hall was as a gorgeous ceremony venue! I took the opportunity to chat with other fellow Disney couples about their experience, as well as the crew members on board who make these special celebrations at sea happen!

You’ll be happy to hear that collapsible wagons are currently one of the exceptions on Disney Cruise Line’s official Prohibited and Restricted Items list, but this is always subject to change without prior notice and at the discretion of the security staff at your Port of Departure. That said, I did personally observe these wagons being brought on board by wedding parties as well as the hair, makeup and photography vendors joining them on the voyage.

I reached out to the Cast Members at Disney's Fairytale Weddings and Honeymoons and they advise that you make sure to inform your Disney Wedding Specialist about any wedding items that you'll be bringing with you as you embark, especially if it is something specific that should be noted. Soon after you board, you'll likely be meeting with your Onboard Coordinator who will want to see the decor that you've brought and go over your details, as well as confirm that the Guest Services team has received your wedding attire for your complimentary steaming or pressing service so they recommend that you carry on your important wedding items as opposed to having them left with the porters.

One thing that was very helpful to me during the wedding planning process was reading up and finding inspiration in the stories of real couples on the Ever After Blog and Disney Wedding Podcast, as well as the most up-to-date experiences on Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings social media and DisBrides planning groups online to hear their tips and tricks ahead of the big day. In the meantime, don't hesitate to come back to planDisney to ask me for any more advice or Disney wedding wisdom before you embark on this next great adventure for you both and sail into your Happily Ever After!

Wishing you all the magical maritime matrimony memories!
