We are getting married may 2012, so a combined honeymoon-family vacation with DCL to E. Caribbean as our son will be turning 3. I wonder if it will be possible to have both adult and family time as he only speaks Danish. Any recommendations and good ideas?

    Hi, Irene!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and your honeymoon/family vacation aboard a Disney ship! You'll have to make sure your celebration is noted on your reservation.  Disney Cruise Line (DCL) crews love to make a big splash with guests who are on board for special occasions!

Because the crew hails from all over the world, there are many languages spoken throughout the ships. Most likely, someone will be able to interpret what your child is saying and how the counselors can best meet his needs. To be confident, make sure you note the language he speaks when you register him for the Oceaneer's Club/Lab and on your reservation. Plus, when you visit the youth clubs on Embarkation Day, you'll want to introduce your son to the counselors and ask if there is someone who can interpret.

Also, to make you feel at ease, all four of my children -- who speak English and only a little Spanish -- have made many friends who speak little or no English while at the DCL youth clubs. Children all speak the universal language of "play!" I hope this helps you plan and relieves any mommy worries.

Let me know if you have any more questions. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation.

    Bon voyage,

    Andi
