We will be getting a guest assistance card for our autistic son. I read somewhere that sometiimes people in the regular line make unkind remarks about those using the pass. What does one say if and when that happens?

Oh, Jaynee!  If I told you what I really want to say to those people, I doubt you would see me answering questions on any panel in the future!  It's so rude when people makes comments on a situation they have little or no knowledge of, and although I have only been aware of those comments once or twice in all of my years visiting Walt Disney World, it just irks me!

Of course, the politically correct, take the high road answer is to just ignore the rude comments and continue on to have a wonderful vacation.  I know it will be tough to do, especially if a comment is directed toward your child.  No mom wants to have to go through something like that.  If you just feel like you're going to bubble over with anger and resentment, I'd probably try to paint a smile on my face, and remark back something like, "Thank you for understanding that not all of a child's challenges are seen from the outside."

And if we ever someday have the opportunity to get to know each other better, I'll tell you what I'd probably really be tempted to say!

I hope you are not the recipient of any of these comments, and I hope your vacation is sprinkled with pixie dust!
