Hi. I will be getting Gastric Bypass on July 1st and will be traveling to The World on August 20th. I will just be starting to eat real food again and am worried about what I will find. We are planning on eating at mostly counter service locations.

Hi Cassie! Within each park at Walt Disney World you will find a variety of foods offered from the Quick Service locations. When your procedure is complete please talk with your doctor about what kinds of foods you can eat and what you need to avoid. Most locations can offer both healthy and the standard options and if you need to see the ingredient listing for an item please ask to see a manager who is on duty at that location. You might also consider bringing permissible snacks into the parks with you as long as they aren't perishable because at that time of year it is difficult to keep foods cool enough to keep them safe.

If you do choose a table service location now and then please be aware that the Disney chefs will prepare anything that is needed to make it a wonderful meal. Immediately let your server know that you will need to speak with a chef about options and he/she will arrange for one to come to your table. If you know where you will be dining and can make some decisions ahead of time you can contact Disney regarding your needs by emailing specialdiets@disneyworld.com or phone them directly at 407-824-5967.

Disney strives to allow all guests to have a magical vacation no matter what their situation entails. Just remember to let your own personal physician be your guide to dining while on vacation.
