Hello! Getting excited for our first trip!! We are driving down from Ontario, Canada. Since we will have our vehicle with us, we could drive to each of the parks. What do you recommend? Should we use our own vehicle or use Disney transportation? Thanks!!

    Hi Tonya,

A first trip to Disney is always super exciting! We usually drive when we travel to Disney.  I personally like having my own car on property.  There are times I find it super convenient and other times I take Disney transportation so it depends on where I'm going and how quickly I need to be there.

If you are staying at a Disney Resort along the monorail line, the monorail or water craft is of course the best way to get to the Magic Kingdom. If you are along the monorail line & visiting Epcot, I'd take the monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC) and then take the Epcot monorail to the park.

If you are staying at the Beach Club, Yacht Club or Boardwalk, I'd walk to Epcot.  You can also walk or take a Friendship Boat to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

If I'm not staying at either of these resorts, I usually take my car but there are lots of people who love the Disney bus system.  It gets you to the parks and to the front gate without parking and taking a tram to the gate.  Just make sure you allow yourself plenty of time if you have a specific time to be someplace (i.e., dining reservation).

If I am going from my resort to another resort for a dining reservation, I always drive my own car.  That way I can be sure I make it to my reservation on time.

If you are traveling with a stroller, you'll need to fold it up before boarding a Disney bus or a tram.  If you plan on loading your stroller down with supplies for the day like I do, make sure you've got things arranged so that you can quickly fold it when boarding.

Parking at all of the theme parks is free for guests staying at a Disney World Resort.  You'll just need to show your Disney Resort Parking Permit to the Cast Member at the parking plaza.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison
