Hi Michael! Welcome to planDisney!
I'm excited to hEAR about your upcoming trip to
Walt Disney World in the new year! It seems like you have a good grasp on Disney Genie+ and the ins and outs of how to make your selections. Genie+ was designed to help Guests maximize their time in the parks by minimizing their wait times for select attractions. My family benefited greatly from this service on our previous trip and can't wait to utilize it again on our next one!
Let's quickly break down how to use
Disney Genie+ and we should come to an answer to your question. Starting at 7 AM, you can make your first Genie+ selection for the day. Genie+ does not allow you to select a return time, so you'll have to choose the next available time slot shown. If your return time is for later in the day, you can make another selection two hours after the official park opening time. If the park officially opens at 8 AM, you can make your second selection at 10 AM. If your selections all happen to be for later in the day, you can continue to make Genie+ selections every two hours. If throughout the day you decide to cancel one of your selections, you cannot immediately make another selection if you had just made one within the last two hours. You'll have to stick to the two-hour policy and wait until it is time again. You won't lose your other reservations, but you will not be able to make a new one if you had just done so.
While this
strategy can work for some, I wouldn't limit yourself to just trying to make Lightning Lane selections for the end of the day. I would suggest utilizing it throughout the day since you will be able to make a new selection once you have used your current one. Also, Disney days can be long, so you never know how your group is going to feel as the day progresses. There are plenty of times we have to end the day earlier than expected because our kids end up tiring out or someone is not feeling great.
Michael, I hope this information helps you plan out your days for your upcoming trip!
