When can I get my Genie+ ready to use?

Hi Roben! Thanks for dropping by planDisney.

I think you're going to just love Disney's Genie+ Service. My family really appreciates spending less time in queues and more time enjoying the magic together, so it's an option we always select. We don't have Genie+ pre-added to our admission tickets, so we'll need to purchase Genie+ after scanning into the parks on our upcoming trip. If you also have yet to purchase it, you'll want to pull up the homepage on the Disneyland mobile app after scanning in at the entrance to the parks. Look for the "Purchase" button towards the top of the page under "Disney Genie+ Service." Tap the button to begin the transaction. Prices are subject to change, and the availability of Genie+ is not guaranteed.

If Genie+ is already added to your ticket, you can skip this purchasing step. Instead, after you scan through the parks, you can book your first Lightning Lane return time using the app. You can't book any Lightning Lane or Individual Lightning Lane return times before entering the parks at Disneyland Resort. To bring up the Lightning Lane selection page, tap the "+" at the bottom of the app and select "Book Lightning Lane Entry." This will bring up all the currently available Lightning Lane return times. Switch parks at the top by tapping "Change Park." When you see an Attraction with a return time that fits with your plans, tap "Book Experience." You'll be able to select who among your party will be using the Lightning Lane Entrance.

While you can't book any return times before your ticket is scanned, you can always take a look at the "Book Lightning Lane Entry" page to scroll through the Attractions. This is a good way to familiarize yourself with the Attractions that offer a Lightning Lane Entrance. Plus, getting comfortable with the app is always a good idea. There's also a list of Attractions offering Lightning Lane Entrances in each park on the website. If you're a planner, you can sketch out a rough idea of what Attractions you'd like to prioritize once you are scanned into the parks. Just don't get too attached to your plans! Spontaneity isn't a bad thing. You might see the perfect return time that runs counter to your plans, so don't be afraid to grab it.

    Have a magical time!
