Hi there, Melissa! Welcome to planDisney! One of the most magical things about the Happiest Place on Earth is that it is truly a place for everyone. Disneyland Resort offers many
services to ensure that all Guests have a magical experience. Hop on my magic carpet and let's fly through the parks to get an answer to your question!
I'm so happy to hear that you are thinking about including
Genie+ in your day! You will be zipping through Lightning Lanes on some of your favorite attractions before you know it. When you return to an attraction to tap in for your
Lightning Lane, you will be given access to an expedited queue, which is typically a line similar to the regular queue but with far fewer people. The experience for those in wheelchairs will be more dependent on the
accessibility options for each attraction than Genie+ itself. Some attractions allow for Guests to remain in their wheelchair, others require a transfer to a ride vehicle, and a short list require Guests to be ambulatory to experience the attraction.
The good news is that all this information is available right in your pocket through the
Disneyland Mobile App! You can easily search for specific attractions by tapping the magnifying glass icon, or you can pull up the full list by selecting the "+" along the bottom navigation bar and choosing "View My Genie Day and Tip Board". Once you tap into an attraction and scroll down a bit, you will see "Accessibility & Other Information" which will let you know the options for boarding that attraction. You can also always ask the friendly Cast Members throughout the park if you have any questions!
You may also consider the
Disability Access Service, which is provided for those Guests who experience difficulty waiting in lines for extended periods. If someone in your party qualifies for DAS, you will be able to schedule a return time for some attractions beyond those allowed within Genie+ so that your party can freely move about the parks while waiting for that return time. I highly recommend looking into
DAS Advance which allows you to register for the program ahead of time as soon as 30 days in advance, but no less than 2 days before arrival. During your video call with a Cast Member, you will be able to choose up to 2 DAS Advance selections for each day of your visit, subject to availability. Once you are in the parks, your party will have a one-hour return window to use these selections, and you can also manage your DAS selections through the mobile app.
If you plan to enjoy any Nighttime Spectaculars while you are in the parks, be sure to ask for the wheelchair-accessible viewing spots. These are first-come, first-serve, so it's still a good idea to get there early!
Melissa, if you have any more questions, your magic carpet is always welcome here at
planDisney.
Magic awaits!
