Thanks for finding us here at planDisney. With years of experience with making the most of visits to the Disneyland Resort and other Disney theme parks, we are pleased to share tips, tricks, and secrets that will help make your visit as magical as possible. And we are still regular Guests at the parks like you. So we can offer advice from a relatable perspective.
The
Disney Genie+ service is a self-service offering that requires the use of the
Disneyland mobile app. To take advantage of the
phenomenal cosmic powers of the Genie+ service, at least one member of your party must have a compatible mobile device with the latest version of the Disneyland mobile app installed. However, it is not required that every member of the party has a mobile phone with the Disneyland app. All of the tickets for your party can be linked to the account of one or more members of your party. They can then use the app to book
Lightning Lane return times for all of the members of your party. Then, to redeem your Lightning Lane return times, the individual or individuals with the app can scan all of the tickets from the app. Or each Guest can choose to scan the barcode on their printed ticket card at the Lightning Lane entrance instead. That flexibility is there to allow you to use the Lightning Lanes however you are most comfortable.
Tony’s Tip: To make your visit to the Disneyland Resort even more convenient, you may choose to purchase an optional
MagicBand+. I like this option the most because it means I don’t have to dig out our ticket cards from my wallet or interrupt what I’m doing on my mobile phone (such as placing a
mobile food and beverage order) to use for scanning into a theme park or a Lightning Lane entrance. I also quite enjoy the magical surprises that manifest on the MagicBand+ at select attractions. And
Disney PhotoPass photographers can also link pictures they take by scanning a MagicBand+. With or without the Genie+ service, MagicBand+ helps make our visits to the Disneyland Resort more memorable and fun.
