Hey Howdy Hey Fernanda and welcome back to planDisney!
Alright Fernanda, looks like you are closing in on 50 days until your next trip to the Vacation Kingdom of the World! So incredibly exciting! Thank you so much for your question in regards to
Disney's Disability Access Service (DAS) and
Genie+. There are similarities to both and may be tough to figure out if one or both are right for you. Let's run through some specifics with DAS and find out if this would be a good option for you.
Recently, Disney has made some great updates on DAS that I wanted to let you know about. Specifically with
pre-registration and DAS Advanced Planning options. With this, you can register for DAS before leaving for your vacation by requesting a live video chat with a Cast Member online. Make sure that the party members that would qualify for DAS are available for the chat! As long as you are given access to DAS, you will be given a text-only phone number that you can text a Cast Member your requests for two return window times for attractions in the parks before your day in the park starts! You get two of these advanced windows per day of your stay, so this is something to factor in every day you will be in the parks.
You will also have the traditional ability to book a rolling one DAS selection as well. This has also recently been made available through your
My Disney Experience app so as long as you are approved for DAS, you will have the option to book your return window through your app on your smart device rather than seeing the Cast Member at the font of each attraction. You still can do this as well by the way if you wanted to!
So in total, you may have up to three windows of arrival times as your day gets started in the parks with DAS advanced planning. You still do have the option as well to purchase Genie+ with DAS if you would like. With Genie+, you can book your
Lightning Lane entitlement at 7:00 a.m. EST on the morning of your park visit. You can book another two hours later or after you redeem your first entitlement. This further helps to get your time for specific "must-do" attractions in the parks.
I would also make sure to keep an eye out for any need for
Individual Lightning Lane purchases you may want to take advantage of. These purchases are for specific times for the very popular attractions in the parks such as
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Hollywood Studios. You have the option to take advantage of all of these or none, whichever best suits your budget and planning style for your vacation!
I hope this information helped clear things up. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach back out to us, we would be happy to help!
Have a Magical Day,
Nick
