    I want to use the genie planning function (not genie plus). When I add my ticket #, I get an error that something went wrong. We are quite a long ways out from our trip, and wonder if you can only use it close to your stay.

     Welcome to planDisney, Lawrence. We're so glad you stopped by! You've certainly come to the right place with your question. We're delighted to help you plan your Walt Disney World Resort vacation!

     Using Disney Genie Service on the My Disney Experience mobile app is the best way to make the most out of your theme park visits. When you summon Genie's great powers, the My Day feature will customize a personalized itinerary based on your preferences and interests, maximizing magic!

     You can begin to use the Disney Genie Service as soon as you have valid tickets, regardless how how far out you are from your arrival date. I'm not sure why you're receiving an error message, but not to worry! I have a few suggestions. Be sure you have a My Disney Experience account already set up. If you don't, I recommend completing that process on the Walt Disney World Resort website, rather than on the My Disney Experience mobile app. With your account ready to go, take some time to link your Theme Park Tickets (with your Theme Park Tickets linked to your My Disney Experience account, you won't need to continue to add your ticket information when you start to plan your day with Disney Genie). Then, make sure you have the most updated version of the My Disney Experience mobile app. Once you've taken care of all those steps, open the app, tap on the three little lines in the bottom right corner, and select 'Today's Plans.' You'll have a recommendation to start planning your day. Tap on 'Get Started Now' and then you should be able to select the date of your visit, skipping the step you've been getting stuck on because your tickets are already linked to your account!

     If you find that you're still experiencing difficulty, I encourage you to call the My Disney Experience Line. A friendly Cast Member there will be happy to assist you! Just be sure to have all your vacation information on hand and I'm positive they'll be able to sort the issue out for you.
