If I have genie+ and use the lightning lane but want to use rider switch for my baby, does the other parent staying back have to have Genie+ as well?

    Hi there, Cassandra!

Welcome back to planDisney! Watching babies cuddle with characters and stare in awe on the Fantasyland attractions at Disneyland Resort always brings a tear to my eye. It's such a special age to introduce them to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Rider Switch allows adult Guests to take turns waiting with young kids or Guests unable to ride an attraction. This service was a game-changer when my kids were little! Even now that my kids are a little older, we still use Rider Swap on a couple of attractions that my youngest child is not tall enough for yet. To answer your question, yes, if one parent utilizes Disney Genie+ Lightning Lanes to ride an attraction, then the parent staying with the baby also needs to have purchased Disney Genie+ to use Rider Switch. However, if one parent decides to just use a regular standby line, then the other parent would not need to wait in the standby line when it's their turn to ride. Personally, I like to maximize my time and efficiency when visiting Disneyland Resort with young kids, which is why I always recommend purchasing Disney Genie+. Less time waiting in lines means more time for churros!

During your visit, you may want to stop by one of the Baby Care Centers at Disneyland Resort. Baby Care Centers provide quiet places to feed your little one, plus they have bottle warmers, microwaves, and vending machines filled with baby essentials. The Cast Members at the Baby Care Centers are extra sweet and are happy to help parents find what they need for their infants.
