Hi, Erin! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!
You've never had a friend like
Disney Genie! I'm glad to hear that you're planning to purchase Disney Genie+ service during your upcoming visit to the
Walt Disney World theme parks. Using Disney Genie+ service allows you to access many
attractions using the
Lightning Lane entrance. This is a great way to save some time and maximize the magic during your theme park day.
Once you've purchased Disney Genie+ service on a given day, you can make your first Lightning Lane selection starting at 7:00 a.m. You'll be eligible to book another Lightning Lane two hours after the park opens or once you've scanned into your first Lightning Lane attraction, whichever comes first. Throughout your day, you can continue to book Lightning Lanes (based on availability) every two hours or once you've used your current one.
You'll want to make sure that all members of your travel party are connected to your
My Disney Experience account. You will then be able to book Disney Genie+ Lightning Lanes for everyone when the entire group wishes to experience an attraction together. However, if your party wants to split up and book different attractions, your wish is the Disney Genie's command. You can definitely do this, and this feature of Disney Genie+ service is especially helpful for families with little ones who may not meet the height requirements for certain attractions.
When you book a Lightning Lane, your
My Disney Experience mobile app will prompt you to select the members of your party. You can either select all or just choose certain group members from your list of eligible Guests. In the scenario that you mentioned, you would select an adult and the big kid for a
Space Mountain Lightning Lane. Once that is booked, you could immediately book a Lightning Lane for a different attraction for the other adult and your little one. Each individual in your party will then be eligible to book their next Lightning Lane in two hours or once they scan into their current attraction. You could then either continue to make separate Lightning Lane selections or wait until everyone in your group is eligible and make your next plans together.
As you get ready for your vacation, be sure to also look into
Rider Switch. This is another service that can be helpful for families who have younger children who are too small or just not quite ready for certain attractions. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to visit us here at planDisney again.
Hoping all of your Disney wishes come true!
Samantha
