    What is the Genie+

Hi Christine! You've got a friend in us here at planDisney, and I'm happy to introduce you to the Disney Genie+ system ahead of your upcoming visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!

Genie+ is a paid service that allows guests to book Lightning Lane entry for select theme park attractions and experiences during their time in the parks. The Lightning Lane is a separate attraction entrance that allows you to skip the standby line and reduce the wait time for your chosen experience. On average, guests can expect to enter at least 2 to 3 attractions using the Disney Genie+ service.

Genie+ does require a little bit of strategy, and a little bit of luck, but I'd love to share some tips to help you maximize your use of this service should you choose to summon the Genie during your visit.

First, become familiar with the attractions and entertainment experiences that are included with Genie+. Each park does also have one or two attractions that are excluded from this service, but are available to book through the additional purchase of an Individual Lightning Lane or by securing a complimentary boarding group through a Virtual Queue.

Second, be prepared to make your first selection right at 7 AM on the My Disney Experience Mobile App when the booking window opens. I recommend logging in before 7 AM to purchase Genie+ so you are ready when the window opens to make your first choice. I also recommend booking the more popular attractions first, as they are more likely to sell out earlier in the day. Some suggestions would be Slinky Dog Dash in Disney's Hollywood Studios; Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan's Flight, or Jungle Cruise in Magic Kingdom Park; Remy's Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT; and Expedition Everest in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

To make your first selection, visit your Tip Board and then select the theme park you will be visiting. You will see which attractions are available to book and what return time you are offered.

If you are also planning to secure an Individual Lightning Lane for any additional attractions or attempting to join a Virtual Queue, I would recommend having another member of your travel party do this at the same time from a different account, if possible. This will maximize your chances of securing both for your day!

Once you have made your first selection, your next selection will be available either two hours after the park you are visiting opens, or immediately after you have scanned into your first experience - whichever comes first. The My Disney Experience Mobile app will keep track of when you can make your next selection, and I also recommend setting an alarm a few minutes before so you don't forget! After your second selection, you may continue to make additional selections every two hours. There are some helpful how-to videos that will walk you through the process as well!

Christine, Genie+ is an awesome way to reduce wait times and ensure you have the chance to experience your favorite attractions! Let us know if you have any more planning questions!

    See you real soon,
