G'Day! Our family of 5 (mum, dad & 3 boys, 11, 9 and 6) will be travelling to Disneyworld (1st time!) from Australia in October 2014, can you recommend a hotel, they are keen on the water parks, are they open that time of year and is it warm enough?

    Hi, Megan!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm so glad you found us!

My 12-year-old son and his cousins / buddies love water parks as well, so I understand how important it is to visit those during your stay. Use this year as a guide to determine likely park hours at both water parks during October of next  year. Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. most days this month. Your boys will love both!

To continue the water park fun at your WDW Resort hotel, look at Moderate Resorts, Deluxe Resorts and Deluxe Villa. These resorts all feature a slide at their main pools, which might be enticing for your family on a a day when you need a little downtime...and each has a hot tub!

We love Moderates Disney's Port Orleans-Riverside and Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. Deluxe favorites include Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney's Polynesian Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Beach Club Resort. Favorite Deluxe Villas include Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney's Old Key West Resort, Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Beach Club Villas and Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas-Kidani Village. For the best pool experience, though, you can't beat Disney's Beach Club Resort / Villas and Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas-Kidani Village. Check out the descriptions and maps of these to see why.

All WDW pools and water parks are heated year-round, and October highs average 84 degrees, with lows near 66, according to weather.com, perfect heated-pool weather!

Send more questions as you plan this very special trip, Megan; I love to help!
