Hi Judith,
Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for stopping by with a great question!
Disney's Contemporary Resort is one of our favorite deluxe resort hotels. And since we are typically on a budget, we have stayed in the Garden Wing on several occasions because those rooms were a little less expensive than the rooms in the main tower. The walkway to the main building can be accessed from the first floor of the Garden Wing. We always request a first floor room so that we can have a patio and love being able to just walk out to the pool.
Since it looks like you have an upcoming trip soon, I do hope you made
advanced dining reservations. When staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort, we love to make a breakfast reservation at
Chef Mickey's and then spend a morning at the resort in the pool. And then on at least one evening, we make a dinner reservation at
California Grill and enjoy the spectacular views of Magic Kingdom. Remember also that with access to the resort monorail, you can easily dine at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Be sure to check the
operational,
resort hotel, and
dining updates prior to your visit.
If you have not stayed at Disney's Contemporary Resort, you are in for a treat! We love the easy access to the
Resort Monorail and the walking path to Magic Kingdom. Prior to arrival, I do suggest that you review a resort map of the Garden Wing building and make a room request. We have enjoyed rooms with views of Bay Lake and rooms closer to the main building. We prefer the rooms closer to the main building.
Judith, this resort holds so many special memories for us because it was one of the first Walt Disney World resort hotels our girls experienced. It simply is magical!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
