Hi gang!! Coming to DWD in 23 days with wife, daughter and grandaughter for 6 days and was thinking of trying the Earthquake sundae at Ghirardelli and was wondering if we can choose the flavors of ice cream and toppings or are they all the same. Thanks.

    Hi Don,

Oh my garwsh!  You are one brave soul, that is a lot of ice cream.  I split a regular sundae with my daughter and that was only 2 scoops of ice cream (it took us about an hour to finish it).  The Earthquake Sundae has 8 scoops of premium ice cream,  8 types of toppings, topped with sliced bananas, whippedcream, chopped almonds and cherries (serves 4 or more people).  While I would never dare try and eat one of those, my daughter and I did see a family when we were there digging through one and man was it big!  They did tell us that they were able to pick their own flavors of ice cream and one of them was allergic to nuts, so they got it "nut free" (Ghirardelli even let them substitute another topping instead of the nuts).  I have found them to be very accommodating to guests needs and desires (within reason).    If you are a big family/group and you split the $30.00 charge (prices subject to change), then I think it's actually a very neat way to enjoy a dessert where everyone gets to have a little bit of everything for a decent "price per person".  If you decide to tackle this sundae...good luck!

    Best wishes,
