We are going to galaxys edge on Dec. 27th and we really want to get on the rise of the resistance ride but dont want to wait four hours with a three year old so our strategy is to get there early. What time should we get to the park?

Bright Suns, Meghan! I'm thrilled to be able to answer your question because today was a very exciting day on the planet Batuu. The Resistance is back with a show of strength against the First Order and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is now open at Disney's Hollywood Studios! This highly-anticipated attraction features the very latest in technology and allows you to step right into the action and join the power struggle that is currently gripping a galaxy far, far away.

Since the attraction just opened today, we learned some brand new information about how guests will be able to ride it and how the queue will work. At the moment, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is using a boarding group system, which is similar to how guests accessed Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge when the land first opened in August. Guests will be able to join a boarding group in the My Disney Experience app once they have arrived at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The button to join is right there on the home screen of the app so you can miss it when you open it up! Once you've got a boarding pass, you can enjoy your day at the Theme Park and you'll receive a notification when it's time to join the queue for the new attraction. This will cut down the time that you spend waiting in the actual line and will free you up to enjoy other attractions, meet Disney Characters, or grab a bite to eat. I still recommend getting there as early as you're willing to because the boarding groups did fill up very quickly when they were first introduced this morning. If a boarding group system is not in place on the day that you plan to visit, then I recommend arriving at least one hour in advance of opening if you want to be among the first guests to ride.

May the Force be with you, Meghan!
