Welcome back to planDisney, Denise! It’s nice to see you here again.
One of my fellow panelists spent an amazing long weekend at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, and I have been dreaming of a
canoe trip through those gorgeous waterways ever since I saw her dreamy photos. I’m excited to hear you’re planning a fishing trip at “The Fort” – Disney fishing is a dream of my dad’s, and looking into your question gave me an idea or two.
You will not need a fishing license to fish at the Walt Disney World Resort. Any fishing at Walt Disney World is strictly catch and release, so keep that in mind for your planning. If you’re planning to bring your own poles and fish at
The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, live bait can be purchased at the Bike Barn; there are several bait options and they’re priced around 5 or 6 dollars depending on type and quantity (prices are subject to change). If you take a look at the
Fishing web page, you’ll see a link to more information about the types of fish found in the waters around Walt Disney World. Scroll to the bottom of that page for some great tips and know before you go information.
For fishing excursions, I recommend calling (407) 939-BASS for specific information and pricing. During the
Walt Disney World Resort’s phased reopening, fishing excursions are limited and not currently departing from every resort, so your best bet is to call for more information and to book a reservation. Excursions can be arranged in 2 and 4 hour time blocks, and can be priced per person or per boat.
Denise, thanks also for noting that you didn’t see a “Fishing” tag on this question. I’ve shared that feedback with the appropriate team – we always want it to be easy for you to come back and ask us your questions, and your feedback is much appreciated. Thanks for being a frequent friend of ours on the panel – it’s a pleasure to help you with your plans and dreams.
Have so much fun on your fishing trip! Come on back and see us if you need to “cast” any more questions our way – we promise to take the bait and provide our best bites and fin-tastic advice.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
