at FW campground, if we go during offseason, how long approx. would it take using Disney transportation to each of the theme parks from FW? or do you suggest we drive? if we rent a electronic cart, can we drive from our site to the depot and park it ther

Hi Lisa! You know I love answering Fort Wilderness questions as it is one of my homes away from home!

The transportation is pretty standard as far as times go throughout the year with the exception of special days such as big holidays like Easter and Christmas or days when there might be a Disney running event where roads are shut down and alternate routes need to be made. But Disney would always alert their guests and assist them if that is going to happen.

If you choose to rent a golf cart (expensive but so much fun) then you can drive directly to the front bus area or the marina area and park it without a charge or hassle. You can also park it at the pool and bike barn.

Generally I suggest you use the bus system but if it is really an off season time then driving can be just as easy. The buses drop you off fairly close to the entrance with a short walk where if you drive you are often pretty far away and then have to walk or wait for a tram to take you to the entrance. Some guests like to use their own cars as they feel a little more free to come and go but the buses do run about every 15-20 minutes. To the parks you will find a dedicated bus for Fort Wilderness but returning sometimes shares with Wilderness Lodge.

Here are the approximate travel times to the parks from Fort Wilderness.
Magic Kingdom-without a doubt take the boat and do NOT drive...this is about a 16 minute trip
    Epcot-13 minutes
    Animal Kingdom-24 minutes
    Hollywood Studios-18 minutes
These times are from the front bus area of the resort and do not include any time if you are waiting for the internal buses. Hope this helps with your planning!
