My future son-in-law is going to secretly propose to our daughter while we are vacationing in WDW. Is There any special place or ideas you may have for where he can "pop the question"? He deosn't want to do the usual, in front of the castle.

Hi Larry! How sweet of you to help your future son in law with this decision!  Your question brought back some wonderful memories of my own when our son proposed to his wife there 9 years ago!

He chose something a bit pricey but it was so romantic and wonderful and he never looked back at the price. Disney has a large yacht called the Grand 1 which is located at the Grand Floridian marina. You can book it for an hour or any length of time you choose. It comes with a pilot of course and then a "butler" who handles anything else you might need. It can take up to 10 or 12 persons.  My son asked us to come along and we were thrilled to be a part of this big moment. While he was doing the actual proposing we opened the cake we had ordered through resort catering and set it all out with the champagne and strawberries. This was in the area under the boat. At the same time he and his future wife were out on the deck and as the fireworks began at the Magic Kingdom he took the ring out and proposed!
What a moment and then we all had a celebration together to welcome her into our family.

This is just one idea but love the fireworks cruise boats as a way to do it. If you don't want to reserve the Grand 1 you can reserve pontoon boats for Wishes or one at the Yacht and Beach resort for the Illuminations show at Epcot. With these you will moor along other boats and it isn't quite as romantic if you waited for the fireworks. But they are wonderful ways to pop the question! You can reserve them through recreation and that number is 407-939-7529. Don't forget to ask about having catered food and drink delivered to the boat as well as something perhaps from the Disney florist!
