Future 2024 DisBride here! I recently signed my contract for my Disney Wedding and won't be able to speak with anyone or have a meeting with a planner until closer to the actual date. What happens at the menu tasting and any tips on what to prepare?

Hey there Kelsey and welcome to planDisney!

I always say that planning a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding is like being able to feel like an Imagineer as you design and craft your very own Disney event for your guests. As a recent Disney Groom myself I've spent the past few years planning our wedding day and in our experience, after months of research and waiting my husband and I ended up in the very expert and capable hands of our Wedding Event Services Manager Carol and her Assistant Megan who were able to put together the perfect day! One of the most important aspects of our wedding was the variety of food options that we chose, so on behalf of fellow Disney Wedding couples out there I'm happy to share what our menu tasting experience was like:

    • After a rousing welcome by the Major Domo we were introduced to the Cast Members assembled which included Wedding Coordinators, Pastry Chefs and the Grand Floridian Bakery team, and even our Chef Mike who was responsible for the menu at our venue. At these events you'll be able to spend some time discussing the options you want which was our one opportunity to speak with anyone in person throughout our planning process, so I definitely recommend bringing your notes and pictures of the things that inspire you - especially from real couples featured on Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings social media like the Ever After Blog, Disney Wedding Podcast and DisBrides communities online.
    • Of course the main event is the vast array of food items presented as each table of fellow couples was invited up to sample a veritable feast of options to be inspired by - all the way through to the fun dessert options, all while being serenaded by Disney tunes played on request by the violinist. I personally recommend coming to this event with an empty stomach as there was a lot to try; we certainly felt like we'd confirmed our menu by the end of it, but I also suggest taking plenty of photos and making note of what you both enjoy the most!
It is important to note that this offering was not available at the start of our Wedding Planning process, may not be guaranteed for all couples and may always be subject to change or availability if you get the chance to be invited to one in the future. At our event there were a few fun appearances and surprises, but I highly encourage you to make sure to use that time to speak with the Cast Members about your ideas and take inspiration from any décor setups while you can. This truly was a unique moment where we were able to speak directly with all of the people who would make our wedding wishes and dreams a reality. In the meantime, you're always welcome here at planDisney to ask me anything else about Imagineering your wedding day at the Most Magical Place on Earth!

Here's to your Happily Ever After!
