A funny question. Can someone recommend a couple of great shoes for women to wear at Disney? I know I will be walking a lot and I can't do flip flops. I need a back on my shoe. Recommend a sandal? or Tennis shoes o.k.? It's going to be hot in May! Thx.

    Hi, Jenny!

Oh, shoes ... one of my favorite topics!

Flip-flops can be tough on toes, believe it or not. With all of the walking you'll be doing, you'll need a shoe that is flat, with good arch support and cushioning, and doesn't require your toes to do any work, as flip-flops certainly do,

And yes, while sneakers are great for sheer comfort, the closed-shoe and sock combination can be pretty warm. You also can't, with any ease, take them off to walk in or through any of the fountain areas scattered throughout the Parks and Downtown Disney.

While not the loveliest things, Crocs can be a real lifesaver. They are lightweight, thickly padded, and offer a backstrap that is equivalent to a sandal strap. I have several pairs that I alternate to wear to Disney, with or without socks, depending upon the temperature. And yes, I have some of the ones with Mickey-shaped vents (black with a red strap). The Crocs can be put on and taken off quickly, can be dried with towels or in the sun if they get wet, and totally clean-able, should your Mickey bar slip off its stick and onto your foot. You can get Disney-specific ones at the Parks or online.

You'll see loads of pairs at the Parks, so there is no need to worry that you will be the only Crocs wearer "in the house."

Other brands that are great for walking shoes include Cole-Haan and Merrell, both of which offer strapped sandals meant for walking.

    Happy shopping!

    See you later, celebrator,
