What are some fun things to do on a mother son trip to Disney with my 8 year old.

Welcome to planDisney Brenda, and thanks so much for stopping by with your question! Planning a special trip to Walt Disney World Resort with your son is such a wonderful way to create lasting memories together. There’s something truly magical about experiencing the parks through the eyes of a child, especially during a one on one adventure like a mother son getaway. I’d love to help you discover some unforgettable experiences that will make your trip extra special!

I suggest starting with attractions that spark his curiosity and energy. In Magic Kingdom, take a ride on TRON or team up on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. If he's into pirates, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride can be unforgettable. Make time to watch the parades and fireworks together, maybe with a special treat like popcorn or a Dole Whip in hand.

At Hollywood Studios, explore Toy Story Land where you can ride Slinky Dog Dash and play side by side in Toy Story Mania. If he’s a Star Wars fan, Galaxy’s Edge is a must. Piloting the Millennium Falcon together on Smugglers Run can be an awesome shared adventure.

In EPCOT, do the interactive scavenger hunts like DuckTales World Showcase Adventure or try a few kid friendly global snacks. Spaceship Earth and The Seas with Nemo and Friends are slower paced but still engaging.

Animal Kingdom is perfect for explorers. Kilimanjaro Safaris is like a real African safari, and the Wilderness Explorers program turns the park into a giant interactive game. The Festival of the Lion King show is both entertaining and impressive for all ages.

Beyond the parks, consider building in simple downtime at your resort pool, playing arcade games, or taking a ride on the Skyliner just for fun. A character meal together, maybe with Mickey and friends, can add a sweet memory to the trip. Whether it's a silly photo, riding something twice in a row, or sharing a Mickey pretzel, the little things often become the biggest memories.

Brenda, I hope this helps you get everything set up for your magical adventure at Walt Disney World Resort! Thank you for visiting planDisney, and have a pixie dusted day!
