The
Fort Wilderness Resort is one of Walt Disney World's largest resorts on property. It is divided into two sections with the front one being the cabins and the back area utilized for the camping sites. There are fun things to see and do all throughout this vast resort.
You can find the horseback riding stables up front next to the main bus depot. This is also where the Front Desk and check-in building is located. As you follow the road into the resort you will find sidewalks and large fields where many families gather for games. In the cabin area you will also find one of the two pools. This pool is the smaller of the two and more of a lap pool type but a great place to cool off in on a hot day. You can also find a basketball goal there.
The main heartbeat of activity in the resort is around the Trading Post and Bike Barn. This is where you will find the larger
Meadows Pool. This pool will have a slide and splash zone as well as a hot tub. Next to the pool is a large grassy area, volleyball net, tennis courts, covered picnic area, and playground. Next to the pool is the Bike Barn where you can rent canoes and kayaks, fishing poles, bikes, and other sports equipment. There are also shuffleboard courts and Chip and Dale's Campfire Singalong is in this area.
Throughout the camping loops you will find different games from basketball, volleyball, play sets, and tether ball. As you venture to the marina you will find again more playground area and the Disney stables. Here you can walk in and visit with some of the beautiful horses used in the Magic Kingdom and Cinderella's ponies used for her coach.
