What fun restaurants do you suggest for a family w/2 elementary kids but NOT character dining?

    Hi Amanda,

I have to say I was delighted to see your question here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Dining at Walt Disney World is one of my favorite things to do. Yes, even over some attractions. It is always fun to try new places and re-visit those we love. Here is a list of my family's must-dos.
    • Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney's Wilderness Lodge - this family-style restaurant has hearty bbq favorites with very interactive cast members to serve you. Kids can join in on activities such as stick horse races during the meal. It is full of hoot-hollerin' fun.
    • Biergarten Restaurant in Germany Pavilion at Epcot - my family ends almost every trip here. The bountiful buffet is full of German classics, but even my pickiest child loves the choices. Enjoy the traditional bavarian band and join the dancing on the dance floor.
    • 50s Prime Time Cafe at Disney's Hollywood Studios - the unique and iconic decor of "mom's kitchen" in the 50s certainly seems like a trip back in time. My kids always find it interesting to see all the "old fashioned stuff" that decorates the interior. You are served by characters such as "mom" or "cousin Joe" and dine on classics from that era like meatloaf or pot roast.
    • T-REX in Disney Springs - surround yourself with creatures from a prehistoric time while you dine on burgers and pasta dishes. Keep in mind that the loud and sudden sounds can be frightening for some small children.
    • Be Our Guest Restaurant in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom - feel as if you are dining in the middle of Beast's castle from the movie, Beauty and the Beast. The attention to the details from the movie is quite remarkable. They serve a healthy variety of menu options that you won't find anywhere else.

I hope these offer some fun, non-character options for you to consider.

    Bon Appetit
