How much fun are the elephant and rhino backstage encounters?

    Hi, Roger!

If you are a fan of Kilimanjaro Safaris while at Disney's Animal Kingdom, then you will enjoy the Caring for Giants tour or the Up Close with Rhinos tour. You will hear from the amazing guides all about these beautiful animals and see them up close (probably within about 100 feet). Each tour takes about an hour, so it is not a huge time commitment, but it is a totally different experience that is very unique to Animal Kingdom. These Enchanting Extra tours offered at Walt Disney World are very popular so reserve your tour up to 60 days in advance. Tours are booked separately, and online booking is available for both the elephants or the rhinos!  Theme Park admission is required in addition to the cost of the tour(s).

I had the opportunity to take the Caring for Giants tour. I really enjoyed seeing the African Elephants up close. While there is no guarantee which elephants you will see on any given tour, I was able to see a mama and her baby which was just as cute as can be! Each tour is unique so keep your eyes open for special moments during your hour tour.

If you are looking for some adventure, check out the Wild Africa Trek! This is a 3-hour tour that includes some walking, riding in a safari vehicle, and even crossing a rope bridge! This tour is definitely on my bucket-list of Disney adventures. Book your tour online for this unforgettable day that even includes tasty snacks!

However you plan to spend your day in Animal Kingdom, I hope it is filled with wild adventures!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is sailing with Disney Cruise Line, running (or cheering!) at runDisney events, taking hula lessons at Aulani, or vacationing at the Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. I am proud to be a part of the planDisney team and cannot wait to share my tips and advice for a magical vacation
