Hi there, Greg! Welcome to planDisney.
My family adores the Electrical Water Pageant! On our very first visit, we stayed in a water view room at
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and we fell asleep to the sounds of this whimsical light parade every night. To us, it’s the perfect combination of retro Disney vibes, storytelling, and magic!
Greg, you’ll see that the
Electrical Water Pageant’s web page lists viewing locations and approximate times, which is a helpful resource when you’re planning your evening. While I have seen the pageant from outside
Magic Kingdom Park, I wouldn’t recommend it as an ideal viewing location. When the show time coincides with closing (you can check the
Park Hours to line these up), there will be large crowds exiting Magic Kingdom Park and heading in all directions, which will hinder the experience. Also, I don’t believe they pipe the music into the Magic Kingdom Park entrance plaza, although that may have changed.
Instead, I would recommend watching from the waterfront area at one of the Magic Kingdom Park area resorts. My first choice would be the marina and beach area at
Disney’s Contemporary Resort, located near the pools behind the resort. My family once watched the Electrical Water Pageant from the quiet pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and it was perfect – but you have to be a resort Guest in order to do that. I like this location because it feels serene, and it’s a quick walk from Magic Kingdom Park.
Another good option is the beach area at
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. I would grab a Dole Whip from
Pineapple Lanai and pull up a patch of sand to take in the show. If you’re coming from Magic Kingdom Park,
Disney Water Transportation will be your best option to get to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. My family was once on the boat to the resort and we actually had to stop to let the Electrical Water Pageant pass – it was really cool to see it from such close proximity!
I hope you enjoy the show, Greg!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
