Hello, Michelle!
I hope your training is going well and are looking forward to running Disney in January during the Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna® - It's getting closer everyday!
Based on your arrival date, I assume you are participating in either the half marathon or full marathon, if I am incorrect, please let me know. Luckily, there are additional options for viewing runners outside of the theme parks - my favorite is the finish line area. Additionally, spectators gather at the Transportation & Ticket Center near mile 4, and in front of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to see runners go by at about mile 7. Another option to consider is at about mile 12 as you head toward Epcot®. There will be a lot of spectators lining this portion of the course that takes you through a small section of parking lot and walkways near Epcot®.
Unfortunately, the middle miles are considerably bare with spectators because it's just not possible for them to access these areas either due to road closures or safety concerns. However, I do want you to know Disney does their best to fill-in these gaps with characters and incredible entertainment! You'll never forget Sarge encouraging you up the mile 10 incline as you turn for Epcot®! There's never a dull moment.
If you would like even more spectator information, select the highlighted link for the
runDisney website and then select the SPECTATORS tab. From there, select "Viewing your Runner." I hope this is helpful, Michelle! Please do not hesitate to ask any additional questions that may come up as you finalize your
runDisney race-cation plans.
Have a magical race!
Faith
