Friends say we're crazy to attempt DisneyWorld for New Years Eve week. They say it will be wall-to-wall people, more than usual. Is Memory Maker worth it during that time? Can we get pictures that don't look "crowded"?

Hi Liz! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

A few years ago, the area that my family lived in had a fire ban during the Fourth of July which meant no fireworks. At the last minute, we decided to book a Disney vacation because we knew the fireworks there would be spectacular. Was it more crowded than our usual vacations? Yes! But it was also one of the BEST trips that we have ever been on!

I know a few people that always travel to the Walt Disney World Resort for New Year's Eve week and they love ringing in the New Year at "The Most Magical Place on Earth!" You should prepare for lots of people, but with a little planning, you will still have an AH-MAZ-ING vacation! Making FastPass+ selections in advance and dining reservations at Table-Service restaurants will be a huge help with wait times. Make sure to download the My Disney Experience mobile app. This will allow you to make FastPass+ selections on-the-go, order ahead at Quick-Service locations with Mobile Ordering, and see current wait times. It is a huge time-saver!

As for Memory Maker, I highly recommend it! There are PhotoPass photographers set up all over the Walt Disney World Resort, some offering angles that make sure you are the only family in the photo. For the iconic photo in front of Cinderella Castle, arrive at the theme park early and go to the photographer closest to the castle to reduce crowds. You also get ride photos and videos, character meet-and-greet photos, and even some Character Dining locations have a PhotoPass opportunity. You will definitely take photos during your trip, but having Memory Maker guarantees that everyone can be in the photo instead of one person being "behind" the camera the whole time! It is worth it!

I hope these tips help with your upcoming vacation, Liz! Please let me know if you have any other questions.
